The Riebeek Valley is very popular for weddings mainly because of its natural beauty, the close proximity to Cape Town, the availability of good value-for-money venues and the availability of ample, good and affordable accommodation. It is not unusual to have two or three weddings over the same weekend in the Valley.
Our Venue Café Felix is suitable to host weddings for up to about 100 people.
A number of weddings have been successfully hosted at Café Felix including the first and famous wedding of Charles and Dioni Lalieu (to this day this is still a talking point in town) and of course . . Ruben's wedding.
Café Felix is also popular for wedding couples from abroad (especially those with family ties in South Africa), mainly due to the good climate, friendly people and keen pricing compared to overseas wedding venues.
The front courtyard is often used in the past to conduct the formal part of the wedding ceremony. Otherwise three churches are available in the immediate vicinity of Café Felix (within a 5 km radius).
We usually have stunning weather, but just in case, tents are always reserved to be on the safe side. They only need to be confirmed a week ahead of time. For the bigger weddings a romantic tent is normally used to enclose the outside seating area and to minimize the risk of bad weather.
The food is the strong point of Café Felix and a choice of set menus or a harvest table can be recommended. Depending on the complexity of the menu pricing starts from around R350/head. Wines can be selected from the standard wine list or a corkage fee of R60/bottle will be charged for wines brought in.
A venue fee is charged that is dependent on the size of the wedding. This includes exclusive use of the whole venue and all 5 rooms in the guesthouse (negotiable for week-days and out of season).
Old Oak Manor Guest House, is conveniently located on the same property for family, friends and the wedding couple to stay over on the wedding day or day before. A special rate is normally negotiated for the wedding guests.
